Magic of Persia has partnered with the London Film School (LFS) to provide scholarships for Iranian students to attend its two-year MA Filmmaking Course. To launch this partnership a panel discussion entitled 'Iranian Diaspora and its Cinematic Imagination' was held at the British Museum on 7 July 2010 and was chaired by Dr Hamid Naficy.
The talk examined the politics and aesthetics of the films that Iranian filmmakers have made in the European and North American Diaspora. The panel provided a context for the practice of filmmaking within the Iranian Diaspora. Panel members included; Golshifteh Farahani, Tina Gharavi, Babak Jalali, Kim Longinotto and Ziba Mir-Hosseini.
The first recipient of this Scholarship, Fateme Ahmadi, was selected from a shortlist of 12 candidates from Iran, nominated by a group of highly accomplished Iranians in the film industry.
